Background
The threat and challenges climate change poses on our environment has made combating it, one of Better Family Life Trust top priorities. Better Family Life Trust – Green Conservation Plan is Climate Change and Environment organization established and registered in 2008 as a Trust (Non-Governmental Organization) in Kenya.
BFL, Green Conservation Plan is funded through local and international support as part of their commitment to contribute the development of their communities.
BFL, Green Conservation Plan was established with the aim of assisting the country; its communities and the world in general face climate change challenges, and facilitate their participation of the country’s development processes. The main office of the organization is in Nairobi. The organization wants to implement its activities Nairobi.
VISION:
• To provide public education and awareness in climate change.
• To implement Environmental Conservation Programs.
• To be the industry leader in Public Relations Consultancy and Communications Services that assists our clients in fulfilling their mission.
MISSION:
• To help communities prevent climate change disasters by getting involved in environment conservation activities.
• To encourage our service users, partners or peers to reduce their carbon footprint and become climate champions themselves.
• To protect and preserve the critical environmental aspects of the country, provide guidance and assistance in meeting its environmental obligations, and to lead the country into the 21st Century as a leader in environmental awareness activism and programs.
• Integrate development activities into the national peace-building processes and as a result provide a people-centered development model through participatory approaches.
OUR OBJECTIVES:
• To plant Trees.
• To establish Tree Nursery Reforestation programs.
• To raise climate change awareness, educate and involve youth, community raising, engaging with specific climate change issues e.g. Adaptation, Climate Justice, International Development Issues, Climate Change and Energy, Climate Change and Health, Climate Change and Agriculture.
• To engage with Policy and Decision makers in communities, provincial/state level, nationally and internationally.
• To engage with leaders to come up with laws and policies to get Local Forests turned to National Parks, National Monuments or National Forests.
• To promote solutions (such as renewable energy, sustainable transportation, energy efficiency and low impact agriculture) at schools, universities, communities, workplaces, regionally, nationally and internationally.
• To educate youths in the areas of HIV/Aids awareness and Abstinence.
• Promote local initiatives for the environmental protection and regeneration.

WHAT MAKES BETTER FAMILY LIFE TRUST – GREEN CONSERVATION PLAN DISTINCT?
Better Family Life Trust – Green Conservation Plan works on a basis of a people centered-approach supported by the elements defined below: -
(i) Climate Change and Environment Conservation Activities.
Better Family Life Trust – Green Conservation Plan acknowledges that Climate Change is a threat to our environment, health, economy and food security. It has put measures in place to plant trees, educate and create awareness, engage with leaders, policy/decision makers and promoting solutions. BFL – Green Conservation Plan is going to plant different species of trees to reforest public places, under-utilized farm spaces, deforested areas and Wetlands. The Organization has learnt that Tree Planting is an essential and transformative activity when used as a training tool to teach youth how to engage in the development process.
(ii) Rights-Based Approach
The basic of our work is to realize the voices of the poor and the disadvantaged are heard and respected, shielded and fulfilled. BFL – Green Conservation Plan will also bring to the attention of other humanitarian actors in regards to the fulfillment of the poor and the disadvantaged.
(iii) Local and International partnering and Networking with Other Actors
BFL – Green Conservation Plan will forge relationship and partnership with local, international actors and donors to support its target groups. We will also work in close relationship with other environment organizations, the youth, schools, higher learning institutions and communities. Partnership and Networking will support us access resources and rescue risks challenging those we serve.
(iv) Acting Locally
BFL- Green Conservation Plan has the potential of being on the ground with its target beneficiaries understanding the realities affecting their lives. We have full understandings of Climate Change and Environment to fulfill our mandate, against all odds.

How We Plan to Execute our Project
(i) By training the youth and children become Climate Change and Environment Ambassadors and Presenters to engage their skills and knowledge on permanent and voluntary basis to: -
(a) Establish Tree Nursery Reforestation.
(b) Plant Trees in Public Places, Deforested areas, Wetlands, Un-used land e.t.c.
(c) Raise Awareness, educate and involve peers, community raising, engaging with specific climate change issues e.g. Adaptation, Climate Justice, International Development issues, Climate Change and Energy e.t.c.
(d) Engage with Policy and Decision Makers in communities, provincial/state level, national and internationally.
(e) Engage with leaders to come up with laws and policies to get local forests turned to National Parks.
(f) Promote Solutions (such as renewable energy, sustainable transportation, energy efficiency and low impact agriculture) at schools, universities, communities, workplaces, regionally, nationally and internationally.
Service Provision Structure
1. Project Director - Responsible for hiring project staff, overseeing project development and operation, establishing and maintaining links with local government agencies, international donors and implementing the budget.
2. Governing Board - Made up of national, local and church leaders. Responsible for sanctioning the operation of the Center and providing feedback to the Project Director on Center policies and operation.
3. Finance Manager - Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget and accounting.
4. Project Coordinator - Responsible for finding top talent, screening, interviewing applicants and maintaining all of the procedural and administrative aspects of the project, and serves as the designated point-of-contact for procedural issues.
